Antique jewelry: a family heritage steeped in history

Jewelry has existed since the dawn of time, whether as a ceremonial item, a prophylactic or a form of financial investment, it has always accompanied men throughout history. Over the years, and since antiquity, jewelry has evolved according to artistic trends, metals, the discovery of gems, styles and needs of that time. Like the jewels of the XIXth century, Napoleon III jewels, Belle Époque jewels, Art Nouveau jewels, Art Deco jewels, Tank jewels and Vintage jewels.

All these pieces are unique and testify of a know-how of the now disappeared craftsmen jewelers. For the majority of the antique jewelry was made by hand. Each piece was made to order by the future buyer. Each gem that composed it was unique.

The know-how of the past jewellery techniques has been lost today for the great majority of workshops no longer work by hand. The talent, precision and attention to detail of our ancestors are gradually disappearing. This is why our company has chosen to preserve this heritage.

In addition to the historical aspect, antique jewelry has a patrimonial value. Because of the scarcity of these precious objects. This is why a quality antique jewel will not lose its value over time and will tend to gain value. This investment can be valued year after year, just like art objects, of which antique jewelry is a part.

Rediscovered Art Deco Diamond Earrings

We cannot talk about antique jewelry without talking about the family history that accompanies it. Each jewel is charged with emotion, the antique jewel transmits us the memories of our ancestors and has a soul of its own. Certain, we can determine the transformations undergone after the shares.

Here is a perfect illustration. A mother owned a pair of Art Deco diamond earrings. She offered the first one to her eldest daughter in 1953 so that she could transform it into a ring for her engagement. The second was given to her youngest daughter in 1958 who made the same transformation.

Arrived in this state in our hands, our first mission was to give these two jewels in their original state. While respecting the authenticity of the jewel, our workshop carefully recreated the clasps identical to those of the time. These earrings, typical of the Art Deco period, have now been restored to their original appearance and are offered for sale.
