French 19th Century Diamonds Enamel 18 karat Yellow Gold Locket Pendant Brooch

Locket pendant-Brooch in 18 karat yellow gold, horse head hallmark and silver, crab hallmark.
Sublime antique jewelry from the Napoleon III period, consisting of an antique brooch representing a knotted ribbon, entirely enameled in black and adorned in the center of an openwork oval motif with an antique cushion-cut diamond and 6 rose-cut diamonds with folded claws. The bow supports a large removable heart-shaped pendant. The jump ring and front are also black-enameled and set with rose-cut diamonds for the jump ring and cushion-cut and pear-cut antique-fashioned diamonds held in claws. The back of the heart is finely chased with acanthus leaf motifs. The heart pendant opens with a small hinge on the side, revealing 2 compartments in its center separated by a gold-rimmed glass to hold a picture, souvenir... This antique transformation jewel can be worn in a variety of ways : the medallion pendant and its clasp alone on a chain or ribbon, the ribbon brooch alone with the help of a pin on the back, the 2 jewels together as a brooch, or as a pendant, thanks to a rack-and-pinion system on the back of the bow that allows the pin to be removed from the brooch. A chain, ribbon or cord can also be threaded through the ribbon loops to make a necklace or pendant.
