French 1940s Multi Precious Stones 18 Karat Yellow Gold Painter's Palette Brooch

Brooch in 18 karat yellow and rose gold, eagle head hallmark and platinum, dog's head hallmark.
An astonishing brooch in the shape of a painter's palette, it features a smooth gold plate, pierced and appliquéd with 3 brushes in rose gold and platinum. 9 precious and semi-precious stones adorn the top, most of them set in claws. They include a cushion-cut sapphire, a step-cut emerald, a cabochon-cut turquoise, 2 brilliant-cut and one baguette-cut diamonds, 2 fancy-cut and cabochon-cut garnets, and a supposedly fine pearl. The fastening system is a pin with safety pump and chain with safety pin.
Marked by master jeweler Marcel Metzner - Parisian custom jeweler - 1942 to 1957.

The history of this jewel : This brooch was custom-made in the 1940s by its former owner, a painter. She designed the jewel, chose each of the stones to adorn it and had to save up for many months, due to lack of funds, before being able to pay the craftsman who made this magnificent piece. This vintage brooch was then passed on to her daughter at the time of her inheritance.
