The dome ring is a voluminous ring, therefore very present on the hand. The ring of the dome ring is often worked, in finely openworked gold, chiselled, braided or made of gold threads joining together at its base. This ring usually serves as a base for the stone that is set on top. The gemstone or fine stone is thus set in the shape of a cabochon. When the ring is dense, thick and domed, it is called a ball ring. In this case, the metal is often inlaid with stones in a star setting. The dome ring model can be found in the art deco period with platinum or white gold jewelry; then later in the 1960s, even 1980s, with the vintage style.
