French 19th Century Garnet Fine Pearl 18 Kt Yellow Gold Heart Locket And Chain

Chain in 18 karat yellow gold, eagle head hallmark.
This chain is made of a swath of alternating round and pear-shaped rings and closes with a snap hook. It supports a delicately chased heart-shaped pendant adorned with a cabochon garnet. This gem is repeated in the center of the medallion, this time cut in the shape of a heart. A surround of fine half-pearls completes the decoration. The back of the antique medallion is delicately chiselled, and the side features a hinge revealing a gold-rimmed glass to house and protect a keepsake.
